PURE PLANT

Pure Plant aims to demonstrate how sustainable textiles can be produced, without compromising on comfort or style, by utilising the natural properties of bast fibres. These fibres have been largely overlooked in the fashion industry, despite their numerous favourable qualities in terms of both sustainability and suitability for fashion. Pure Plant displays how this can be achieved through considered fibre choices, weave setts and structures and finishing and dyeing techniques. All pieces in this collection have been woven using all bast fibres and have been naturally dyed using plant-based dyes.

GAMESCAPE

This double cloth collection, working on the Dobby Arm loom, is based on the WGSN S/S 21 trend GameScape. For this project, I visited some key places of inspiration and took photographs to inspire a body of drawing. I then used these photographs and drawings to inspire this collection of woven samples. I established a market for this cloth and created some visulisations of the fabric in the setting I intended it to be produced for.

YORKSHIRE MOORS

This jacquard collection is based on the landscapes of the Yorkshire moors. For this project, I used Scotweave to develop a series of drawings into jacquard designs. Initial samples were then woven by myself on on the TC2 loom. These were then developed the further as I was given the opportunity to weave a series of designs at Hainsworth Mill.

Deflected double cloth

This project, working on the CCI loom, is a collection of technical samples. The purpose of these samples was to explore deflected double cloth structures and the impact that different yarns have on these structures.

sINGLE cLOTH

In this project, working on the dobby Arm loom, I produced a collection based on a body of drawing that explored shape and line within architecture. In this collection, I focused on exploring different structures and how my yarn choice impacted these structures. I also explored block drafts and floating wefts a lot in this project.
